Tween and Teen Book Clubs

These popular and engaging Book Clubs began as an offering for the SEA Homeschoolers community and have become such an exciting and engaging part of our community of learners.

Dr. Michelle Parrinello-Cason and Dr. Sabrina Weiss have been working together to bring the secular homeschooling community high-quality Book Clubs for years!

From September-May of each school year, there are two books a month: one for tweens and one for teens. These books cover a range of genres, topics, and formats. Learners get the opportunity to participate at the level that works for their own schedules and interests.

Every Book Club contains the following:

    • Suggested Reading Schedule (to help keep you on track!)
    • Reading Guides (to engage in-depth, active reading strategies)
    • Writing/Vocabulary Activities (to expand additional skills)
    • Discussion Board Posts (to promote interactive learning)
    • Supplemental Links and Resources (to enhance interdisciplinary thinking)
    • Writing/Multimodal Final Project Prompts and Rubrics (to encourage extended writing practice)
    • Live Discussion (to provide community and in-depth discussion)
    • Recorded Summary of Live Discussion (to accommodate a wide range of schedules and needs)
     
    For families who are looking for more hands-on support, there are additional options to add on to the Book Clubs such as Feedback Add-Ons, extra live discussion sessions, and interactive extension sessions. Make these Clubs fit into your own homeschooling practice by choosing the options that are right for you!
